1964 Pontiac GTO Convertible (2039) SOLD!!!389 C.I./348 H.P. 3x2 carbs, (tri-power) number match engine, 4-speed manual transmission, power steering, power brakes, power top, AM/FM radio, wood steering wheel, factory tachometer, safe-t-track rear axel 390 posi, all riding on Vintage red line bias ply tires mounted on a set of the world famous Hurst wheels with trim rings and center caps. Laser straight mirror finish correct Nocturne blue exterior with flawless correct black bucket seat interior and black convertible top. This little tiger was treated to a very nice restoration with lots of attention to detail. This ultra rare piece of automotive history carries a full set of PHS (Pontiac Historical Services) paperwork to prove this tiger was born a real tri-power, M21 close ratio 4-speed with a special order 3.90 safe-t-track posi rear. Every book, magazine, auto enthusiast, and aficionados consider the 64 GTO as the first true muscle car. When the 64 GTOs hit the streets in late 63 it started the muscle car wars that would last for about 8 years. It was a wild time that saw the automakers throw caution and safety to the wind and concentrate on speed, horsepower, bragging rights, and building some of the most radical and outrageous cars ever to come off a dealership showroom floor. When all the dust cleared around 1971 the party was over and the grand horsepower wars were done. Anyway you look at it the 64 GTO will always be a very high collectible and desirable piece of automotive history. Go back in time to where it all began.
